Race Details

We are so excited to be able to come together in this way to continue racing during this unprecedented time. This race will be held on honor code that the participant will complete the race in the specified time, distance, and order of the Duathlon and submit the correct time for each distance specified. There will be a Race Detail email sent out prior to race week to let registrants know of any modifications or changes to this event before we race. 

*There will be a Virtual Clinic held to answer any race specific questions and to impart general information for this event. The clinic will be held May 6th at 6:00 p.m. More information on this clinic and how to access, will be available soon and sent via email.

Packet Pick Up

Packet Pickup Race bib, shirt, medal and swag will be available for pickup on May 8th, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or May 9th 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the South Davis Recreation Center. The address is, 550 North 200 West in Bountiful. If you register after May 8th, please call the recreation center at 801.298.6220 to schedule a pick up. 

When you arrive, please call the recreation center front desk at 801.298.6220. We will bring your bag to you. You will need either a picture ID of yourself (or other racers if picking up for others) or a copy of the confirmation email, to prove participation.

Course Details and Map

Course Details and Map

The course design is up to you. You may take any route you choose as long as you follow these rules:

  • The first and last segments are both a run, and the middle segment is a bike.
  • For the sprint distance, other order is a 3.1 mile run, 12.5 mile bike ride, 1.5 mile run.
  • The novice distance order is a 1.5 mile run, 3.1 mile ride, .75 mile run.
  • All transitions occur at the same location (each segment will either be a loop or out and back.)

Q:When does registration close?
A: Registration for our Bike-n-Sprint Duathlon closes on May 15, at 11:59 PM.

Q: When is packet pick-up?

Q: Can I still pick up my packet (and shirt!) if I choose not to race?
A: Yes! See all registered racers will follow the same process. It will be available for you to pick up for 1 week after the race. After that, it will no longer be available for pick up.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Something to RUN  and BIKE in! We won’t cancel our race: rain or shine! Dress for the weather! Unlike fixed day races, you can keep an eye out for weather forecasts and choose the best day for you between May 9 and 16th.

Q: What time should I start?
A: Your start time is up to you, but all three stages need to be completed one after the other with no delay.

Q: What timing records should I submit?
A: You will need to track the timing of all three segments plus the time of your two transition periods. Run and bike segments will need to be validated with a mobile application, gps or any other means of proving distance and time. Transition times will be accepted on the honor system. We recommend using a stop watch at your transition spot, and a way to record your transition time when completed.

Q: Can I change race distances?
A: Yes. This can be done on active.com before the race or in person for a $5.00 fee. If you are increasing distance, you will also be charged the difference in race cost. If you choose to change the distance on race day, please indicate the change when emailing your results.

Q: Can I exchange my shirt size if it’s the wrong size?
A: Unfortunately we order based on what you selected when you registered. We cannot exchange your shirt size.

Q: What kind of shirt will I get?
A: We provide a long sleeve tech shirt! It is gender specific and is one reason people like our race! So you know, they do tend to run a little small, so ladies… if you’re unsure, go one size up.

Q: What are the awards?
A: All racers, regardless of when they cross this finish line will get the following:

Q: Are results posted? When and where?
A: We post l the race website (www.southdavisraces.com), and our race series Facebook page (www.facebook.com/southdavisraces). Results will be posted by May 19th. Results will also be emailed to each participant.

Q: Can I switch my entry to a friend or family member if I’m injured?
A: Sure! This will also be subject to a $5.00 fee. You’ll need to inform of us of the change us at sjohnson@southdavisrecreation.com before your replacement begins their race.

Q: Can I get a refund if I change my plans or I’m injured?
A: Sorry! No refunds on race registrations!

Q: Can man’s best friend (aka my dog or pet) run with me?
A: We recommend leaving them at home. Having a pet may create hazardous conditions that you will be responsible for.

Q: Can I run with a stroller?
A: This time, yes. If you choose to push or pull additional bodies around, by all means go for it.

Q: Are wheelchairs allowed?
A: If special accommodations are needed please email sarah@southdavisrecreation.com

Q: Is this race timed?
A: Yes! Each participant will time each portion of their race (including transition times) on a personal device, app, phone or GPS. This information will be submitted as proof of completion of the distance and the time that it took to complete. EACH participant will be required to submit their own finishing time to ensure accuracy. The information will be submitted via email: sjohnson@southdavisrecreation.com . Suggested apps/devices include Strava, Map my Run, GPS, Garmin etc. EACH distance’s time needs to be completed in the Duathlon Specific Order.

Q: What if I forget to time my transitions?
A: If transition times are not submitted or not done, a flat transition time of 5-minutes will be automatically be added, per transition.

Q: Do all stages need to be completed at the same time?
A: Yes. This is one race with three stages. In order for this to be a fair race, all stages must be accomplished in the prescribed order with no delay between each with exception to normal transition activities such as changing shoes etc.
